Abiodun Bakare Story
Abiodun Bakare was born in Lagos, Nigeria in 1989. He is the second son among the six children that his parents bore. Among six children, there are four daughters and two sons. His father, Muse Bakare, was an Airways technician where his mother, Olayinka Bakare, was a trader.
From a very tender age, Abiodun Bakare was an airy and active child. Climbing trees, running in the sun and rain, and roaming around the locality were his regular activities. He loved to do creative activities, keeping himself busy at all times. Growing up, Abiodun Bakare used to make greeting cards, wedding cards, Valentine-designed note cards, and birthday cards. Those works gave him satisfaction.
He started school in a nearby junior high school. He liked soccer and was good at it. Everything was going well, but before his final exam in junior high, a calamitous accident made him untidy. In 2000, at the age of 9, Abiodun Bakare found himself in a serious fire accident. Most of the skin on his body was severely injured by virtue of the fire incident. It was the most terrific situation in his young life.
His parents tried their best for his speedy recovery. Knives rolled over his skin several times during surgery. This accident hazarded him brutally. His fellow loved ones began to view him in a different light because of the drastic change in his appearance. All this adverse treatment made Mr. Abiodun Bakare demoralized and angry in a short time span, but a fighter like Abiodun Bakare did not obey the misfortune. He picked up paint, brushes, and art papers in his hand. He spent time painting while in isolation.
After a 2 year long hospital life and another 2 years at home, he came into the row again. He restarted his study again. Having a dynamic soul, he became mentally strong very soon. All the obstructions, he conquered. In his life of isolation, he developed a brilliant art culture, although he was not an art graduate. His spiritual thinking, struggling in life, and devotion made him succeed. Having overcome those brutal circumstances, he was gradually becoming an inspirational figure in art. Some of his artwork was brought to an art gallery in Nigeria.
Later on, he moved to America with his family members. From the year 2006 to 2008, Mr. Bakare studied Pharmacy Technology at ASA college in Brooklyn, NY. But art was in his heart all the time. Soon after the migration, his father passed away. After 7 years in NYC, he moved to Baltimore MD and then to TX. In 2010, he picked up a brush and paint in his hand to do artwork again. But it was too hard to start. Because he had lost a lot in his life. But when seeing his artwork like, “MOTHER LOVE,” and some of his other great work, people get inspired. Portraits of a father’s affection give us spiritual strength.
Meanwhile, Mr. Bakare attended some of the exhibitions showcasing his awesome arts. He has thus been making brilliant pieces of work from his warm finger and with dedicated soul. Whenever people learn of his life, they get strength from his struggle, and his innovative art makes them imparadised.
Besides art, Abiodun Bakare, aka “Bakare Art,” loves driving and playing ping pong. The color blue attracts him most. A once airy kid, facing such bitter experiences in a short time span, has now become a man of art—a man of dedicated art soul, with the hope of becoming an art master in the time to come.
